I've got a fun filled photo weekend up ahead this weekend! Jammed packed with baby nephew photos, baby bump photos, engagement photos! And quite possibly a cowboy or two!
Yippie Kai Yai Yay! =D Cant wait to get through all the photo shoots, and post them up!!

Creating a Photographer's Portfolio

As I am continually trying to learn and hone in on my skills in this craft we call photography, I have to ask myself, what it is I need to do to not only better myself, but sell my product? Besides, always practicing and being open to new things, I need to take a risk. I have to put myself out there. But how do I do that? The answer: I need to build a name for myself. But yet, another question then presents itself. How then, do you build a name for yourself? The only obvious solution to that, that I see, is building a strong portfolio that can showcase my "talents".

Digital photographers, or any photographer at that, who wants to make a living in photography needs to consider their marketability. This means not only accessing your personal skills and talents as a photographer, but also finding ways to better promote yourself and your services to the public. For this reasoning, is why I have started this blog. To start building a portfolio for myself, and to share any knowledge I may have for all other aspiring photographers.

With that said, and without trying to sound anymore arrogant or pompous, let's all sit back, relax and see where this will take us. =D

Nick & Cassandra's Engagement Photos

Not too long ago, a beautiful couple got engaged. SO, of course, over the next few days/weeks, the new blushing  bride to be commenced the wedding plans. On her FB, she posted to all her friends, seeking an amateur photographer to build their portfolio to do their Engagement Photos. Me being silly, I commented that I would do them for her for $FREE.99. To my "dismay", she accepted. EEEEEEPPP!! was the first thing that ran through my head, b/c I've never done this kind of photography. My fortay was more along the lines of stills/fine art type of photography. But she said she wanted me to do it. Reluctantly, I agreed, and I say reluctantly only b/c I didn't want to ruin something as 'important' as engagement photos. Needless to say... the results of the photos session.

 

Thanks so much Nick and Cassandra for allowing me the honor of taking your engagement photos, and I hope you like how they came out.
